Neverwinter Connections now has a dedicated NWN:EE cloud server available for checkout by DMs and gaming groups for their online sessions. It will appear as "NWC Public Server" on the Beamdog list.

To reserve it, use this link to message NWC admin with the following:
  1. An attachment with a copy of the module (zip or 7zip compression preferred, but not required).
  2. Links to any hak or other custom content files required by the mod (other than CEP). (Neverwinter Vault download page links are preferred.)
  3. A link to the scheduled session on the NWC events calendar, which should include the expected time duration in its description.
Please send a request at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled game, which should guarantee that NWC admin will see it.

If you need any special server settings (most importantly, setting it to local vault instead of the default server vault), please include that info in the message. NWC can also transfer over existing server vault characters, if the players' folders are provided. For general questions about connecting to a server or the specific settings available, see the NWC Multiplayer Connection and Hosting Guide.

Once the reservation is confirmed, the requester will receive a message on the main Neverwinter Connections site with the server's player and DM passwords.

NWC is making the server available in order to support DMs interested in running campaigns or individual modules, along with multiplayer groups without a DM. For those looking to get started, here are some recommended campaigns and modules:

With more people expressing interest in creating their own campaigns, NWC has published a new guide to the process, Creating and Running a Neverwinter Nights Campaign. It walks through how to approach creating a campaign and also offers methods of customizing and using pre-built campaigns as a DM. It then goes into what is necessary to organize, prepare and run successful campaign sessions over the long term. Finally, it links many valuable resources for campaign builders and DMs throughout.

Contents

I. Choosing your campaign theme and setting
II. Building your campaign
III. Organizing play
IV. Running the campaign
V. Conclusion: a revolution in gaming

The Neverwinter Connections multiplayer co-op module list contains a number of Hall of Fame mods and campaigns that have proven to work well in MP mode.

The DM-Friendly module list on Neverwinter Vault contains mods that have all been tested and are intended for use by DMs. Some also work well without one, see the individual mod descriptions.

We welcome suggestions for additional mods for inclusion in the above lists, and are interested in hearing about NWN:EE mods in development that work for multiplayer.

The Neverwinter Nights (NWN) multiplayer community, even in its heyday in the years following the release of the original NWN, has always been rather fragmented. The previous (2002-2012) incarnation of Neverwinter Connections was an established multiplayer community hub, but even then the activity level on it regularly ebbed and flowed.

The new Neverwinter Connections only very recently launched. Although it has all the resources necessary to support and encourage multiplayer gaming, people should also look to publicize their games and seek players for gaming groups on other community sites.

Click here to see the discussion topic on the NWC Forums for a short tour of other multiplayer community sites, and to add your own observations and comments.

The NWC Multiplayer Connection and Hosting Guide is a step-by-step explanation of how to use NWN:EE in multiplayer mode. It walks through the process of both joining internet games and how to host one on your own computer. (Now updated to version 1.1 with additional info on server options and creating the DM client shortcut)

The new NWC Quick and Dirty Multiplayer Roleplay Reference is now available as a player aid. It should be helpful for those new to the MP experience, as well as serving as an (optional) reference point for common in-game behavior standards.

The site is also pleased to host two legendary Old School NWC guides, which still hold up very well for today's NWN:EE experience. The original authors gave their blessings for them to be hosted here.

-- Gruush's The Role Player's Guide to Multiplayer Neverwinter Nights

-- Lazybones' The Neverwinter Connections Community Guide to Dungeon Mastering.

All of the above, plus additional community resource links, can be found on the NWN:EE Multiplayer Resource Page.
